The Western Monarch is part of the celebrated Congo Star Mixer series, designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer. This stunning quilt captures the magic of monarch migrations at twilight, with a colorway created by Judel Niemeyer in Quiltster using fabrics from the Monarch Migrations collection by Hoffman Fabrics.

The design features saturated yellows and fiery oranges that evoke the glowing wings of monarchs in flight, set against a backdrop of deep navy and a soft cream background that mirrors the fading light of dusk. The interplay of warm and cool tones creates a quilt that feels both vibrant and serene, a tribute to nature’s evening spectacle.

The original pattern measures 96″ x 96″, but can be expanded using any of the Quiltworx Adjustable Borders that take a 96" quilt to 118" square.  The layout shown here allows you to audition available borders and choose the one that you like the most.  You will order the original pattern, plus the border expansion package of your choice.
