The Arctic Star Queen is a foundation paper pieced design by Quiltworx.com.  If you see it and think it looks similar to our first ever Technique of the Month, called Glacier Star, you would be correct.  We ran out of that publication and decided to put the project through a re-design whereby it would fit a variety of expansion border options, eliminate Y-seams, and incorporate all of our most recent design techniques and standards.  With that change, the overall cost of the pattern even decreased over the original design from 2010.  

Since this project is no longer a Technique of the Month, it is open to anyone to teach, sell, and create with!  We are proud of this redesign and can't wait to see how our customers respond to the updates!  The version shown here is the Arctic Star Queen.  There is presently not options available to take this quilt to a King Size design.  If you are looking for that size, we suggest you look for the Arctic Star King Mixer and/or find the Arctic Star Wall Expansion Layout (coming in April of 2023), to get to the increased size of your quilt. 

There are a couple layouts that you can choose to use when you click on Customize. Layout Option one, matches the cover quilt exactly.  Layout Option two is called the Arctic Star Queen Color Options Layout.  This is essentially a mixer option as there are alternate colorways for all the blocks in the quilt except the 10 inch square.  I've preloaded that block, but for the others, you will have to choose which block you want to fill in that position.  This allows you to use 1, 2, or 8 different fabrics for the geese in the two outside borders and gives you reduced yardage, for example, or use all the same fabrics for the inside geese around the center star, again, which will change your yardage.  If you choose this one, you can choose which blocks to color with.  Just be sure to choose only the blocks that match your project as you will have choices for others in there as well that are from our entire mixer series!  You will not want to mix these up because then your pattern will not have the correct papers.  If you want to choose a different block than one that is in the pattern, be sure to order from the Arctic Star Queen Mixer pattern instead of the Arctic Star Queen.
